Health & Safety Trainings

The Early Childhood Initiatives Center is proud to partner with NorthWest Health System, Arvest Bank and Wal-Mart to provide a First Aid/CPR and AED Certification Program to early childhood professionals of NW Arkansas. Each participant that successfully completes the program will receive a two year certification for a minimal fee of $5.00 for ECIC members or $50.00 for non-members.

This program will certify a total of 718 early childhood professionals in 2017 to protect the health, safety and well-being of young children. We invite you to participate in this training program. To obtain an application contact Rachel at rharrison@hwccenter.com

FIRST™ is a comprehensive training that teaches mandated reporters the signs and symptoms of abuse.  Mandated reporters will learn what steps to take when they suspect child maltreatment: Find a safe location, identify your concerns, build rapport with the child, Seek details, and tell the hotline.  FIRST™, teaches mandated reporters how to respond in a manner that protects the child while also preserving the integrity of the investigation and prosecution.

Early life experiences are the foundational building blocks for development, learning, and health throughout a person’s lifetime. Trauma can have a long-term effect on well-being and functioning for children, adults, families, and our community.

12.5M children under the age of 5 spend 33 hours a week in a child care setting where they may consume most of the daily calories. Learn ways to prevent childhood obesity through proper nutrition, physical activity, less screen time and more sleep.
